The work ‚Treppe‘ (Stairs) was created for the exhibition ‚Über das Geistige in der Kunst‘ (On the Spiritual in Art) at the DG Galerie in Munich. A handrail without associated steps that circumscribes the high gallery space as a red line. In everyday life, the handrail always appears as a functional pair with a staircase; in the artwork it physically detaches itself from it, only the title still reminds one of it. By walking through the exhibition, the viewer, who mentally adds the missing staircase, is constantly presented with new views of the installation: the white walls become a canvas and the line of the handrail a dynamic spatial graphic.
