Generally, it is said to be the task of art to ask questions and the task of science to give answers. Candy Lenk’s artwork, however, reverses this dynamic. The ORAKEL provides a billion answers to (as yet) unasked questions in biomedical research. For the artwork, 30 elements from biomedical diagrams from different sources were isolated and installed as neon contours on wall and ceiling surfaces of the foyer. Randomly controlled, they light up in ever new combinations and formulate a new thesis every half hour.
